Over the last week I've rebought a couple of bits of my German kit that wasn't quite right & let my impression down somewhat:
- New Y straps from RU with what looks like the correct equipment hooks - the epic ones I had before don't appear to be the correct pattern and the soft metal on the back belt hook collapses when the belt is loaded with gear[/list:u:3lfb1lcu]
- Another mess tin - this time the proper, shorter model with the correct height and bales (I think!).[/list:u:3lfb1lcu]
- Repro M31 feldflasche from ahagreat.com - I have never handled an original but it looks correct from pictures that I have seen. The strap maybe a bit flimsy, but looks to be the correct pattern at least and from a distance it is fine[/list:u:3lfb1lcu]
and various other things that I've never owned before:
- Took a gamble on a pair of new Sturm low boots - maybe they will fall apart, but maybe they wont. I gave them their first coat of dubbin last night anyway[/list:u:3lfb1lcu]
- Can of feld grau matt paint[/list:u:3lfb1lcu]
- Can of custom made RAL6006 oliv grau matt [/list:u:3lfb1lcu]
- Repro M1923 Garand Cartridge Belt and M1936 suspenders[/list:u:3lfb1lcu]
- SOF M1916 Colt Pistol holster - the leather is actually a nice brown colour instead of the horrible orange ones I have seen doing the rounds[/list:u:3lfb1lcu]
